Hopefully, more to come... So stand-by for more announcements!
And if you want us to come play in your town - drop us a line...
As for the album ...
There are 14 tracks on 'Come out Fighting!' - all recorded with legendary Producer, Pat Collier (originally in '76 Punk Rock legends The Vibrators, Pat made his name producing The Wonderstuff & Primal Scream & has since worked with virtually everyone in your record collection - including Lars Friedriksen!).
Pat's definitely brought out the best in us: it is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best sounding, most powerful album we've ever made! He's given us a new, more focussed, lean & muscular sound - & in depth: There's the usual range of 'Up & at 'em' Impassioned hIrish Punk Rock Polemic, replete with Pop-tastic Harmonies & the fave Neck 'Now-you're-moshing-now-you're-Riverdancing-now-you're-moshing-again!' trick; 'Necked-up' Traditional Irish rousers, ballads & Jigs; (& even a sh*ggin' Irish Power Ballad fer Chrissakes!) - just all louder, clearer, more powerful and more 'swirlier'!
"...it's a muscular, lean, musical hay-maker that can stand it's ground & slug it out with the best of 'em!"
Here are Some quotes from just some of the reviews for Come out Fighting! so far:
‘"Come out Fighting!' - a full-on and in your face aural assault. A record that combines the pathos of The Pogues, the folk lilt of The Levellers and the punchiness of Stiff Little Fingers to mesmerising effect."
Big Cheese Magazine
'...easily as good as The Pogues ever got ...they go to all the places Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys do but with more first hand closer to the bone reality. Neck's finest moment yet and another fine hooley of an album by the best Irish Punk band in the world!'
Organ magazine
‘...A particular favourite's 'Everybody's welcome to The Hooley! With it's anti-racist lyrics and reel halfway through, it exemplifies Neck's riotous sound: as if The Clash were born on the Emerald Isle!’
The Irish Post
'...my favourite album of 2009 so far. One release not to be ignored! 10/10'
Street Voice
"I love Neck! ...definitely my album of the month!"
Garry Bushell
"... a daring, glorious and grand melody-drenched wall of sound - 'Come out Fighting!' is an album that offers all the evidence required for the band to take their rightful place - alongside those huge-selling US folk-punkers, Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly."
Rock 'n Reel Magazine
'...Neck stand on their own two feet, both arms swinging and deliver anything as powerful as their peers: Irish Trad folk teasing with the left (‘I Turn my Face To The Four Winds’) whilst a punk rock uppercut delivers the sweet final blow!'
Distorted Magazine
"Straight talking and contagiously passionate about his music and culture, Leeson O'Keeffe's band Neck's new album 'Come out Fighting!' is the leaner, tighter sound of a band who have really come into their own."
The Irish World
"...Sh*t. - I hate it when I blow my load in the first half of the review, but that's how Neck make me feel. Premature ejaculation never felt so good..."
Unpeeled
"...Lyrically sussed as always, with some cracking tunes (“Come Out Fighting”, “Tink” and “Hello Jakey”), and inc ase you missed anything, detailed explanations are given in the excellent booklet (a ‘Hooley’, we find, is Irish for ‘party’!) - a commendable effort!"
Savage Amusement Punk Zine
"...I am struggling to think of any similar bands who have made such a striking impression and am equally struggling to think of an album of this ilk that works so well."
Fungal Punk
"F*cking brilliant! - Uplifting, punchy, hints of The Clash: this is hands-down the most exciting cd I've heard in a long time!"
Three Punk Rock questions
"...this came my way for review in fRoots & I liked it so much I played it on my radio show!"
Simon Jones, Moorlands Radio
"... the band mostly plays in fifth gear and Leeson’s coarse-grained, but melodic voice perfectly suits the speed folk, but when the band shifts into first gear his voice is upright, passionate and contains an authentic Irish bite. The fourteen psycho-ceilÃdh songs almost explode from the unbridled energy and Guinness bubbles. Cheers lads!"
