REVIEW - BELLY BLUSTER "La Ciurma" (2011)
Belly Bluster "La Ciurma" (2011)
Release date: 2011
Running time: 27:33, 7 tracks
Belly Bluster are from Caserta, Italia. Two singers (boy and girl), two guitarists, one bassist, one drummer, one keyboardist and a fiddler and tin whistle player. Following their EP cover and their own words, you could say that they are “pirates”. However, Belly Bluster don’t sound like your normal pirate band. I dare to say that sometimes they sound like the bastard sons of Firkin and Paddy and the Rats: metal influences and party songs together with great chorus.
Their first EP was released in 2011. Seven tracks on which their hard rock and metal influences are obvious. Normally they sing in Italian, even if one of the best songs, “Whisky Drunkers”, is sung in English (a great number featuring the Kesh jig with the Paddy and the Rats sound).
The other tracks to check out are the opening track, “Belly Bluster”, on which boy and girl share vocals and the guitar work is excellent, track no.5, "The Mohican", an awesome epic metal instrumental, and the last track, “La Ciurma”, probably the best track together with “Whisky Drunkers” and the most Celtic punk inspired material on the EP.

Belly Bluster material is really interesting. We should keep an eye on them.
