Brutus' Daughters (Carabanchel, Madrid, Spain)
"Brutus' Daughters is a punk-folk band which was born in a southern county of Madrid. Having a classic punk band formation, they introduced both an Asturian bagpipe and a fiddle as a way to create the kind of music from which they have taken great influence. All of the members once belonged to other national punk, hxc, oi! and folk bands coming from different parts of Spain , and that's why their influences are so many.
The songs are written in languages such as Castilian, Asturian and English, not being narrow-minded if having to deal with other dialects. Concerning the subjects, some of the lyrics reflect the value of friendship involved in the 'shebeen' culture, while others contain a socio-political message, dennouncing the mistreat underpriviledged people has to suffer because of the abuse of authority.
Literature from ethnical minorities, autobiographies, and traces from mythology deeply rooted in celt tradition have served as a source for many of them. The rescue of endangered languages is one of their concerns, the cultural richness and the linguistic variety is such that the need of preserving them, together with a social view of what is around them, is a must for their song's inspiration.
Also, the Irish influence is undeniable, taking bands like The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers, or The Chieftains as a path to follow. As a consequence, it is easy to find in their repertoire melodies shaped in jigs, reels, and hornpipes, as well as sea songs."

"The Ceili Family (Hagen, Nord Rhein-Westfalen, Germany)
The Ceili Family is on tour-a-loo since 1996. Played small Pubs and Dive bars, as well as well-known Open Air-Festivals all over Germany. The band crossovers a lot. Irish Folk Festivals, Village Fairs or other occasions. Meets purist legends like the Dubliners, infamous Shane MacGowan or harlequins like German artist „Honigdieb“. Size does not matter when it come to audiences. The Ceili Family does not care if they’re playing in front of a festival crowd of 2000 people or merely 50 drunks in a smokey Pub. The band always playing their hearts out. Presenting their own songs. And classics like „Whiskey in the Jar“ or „Dirty Old Town“ from time to time as well as trash-talking breaking out in laughter...
The Ceili Family celebrates every concert as if it was the last. Or their first..."

The Pokes (Berlin, Germany)
"We are not irish – and don’t pretend to be.
We play Folkpunk – and we play it "Pokes"-style. With our 2nd album “Poking the fire…” we have proved that Berlin is also a great address for Folkpunk. On many festivals, in pubs + clubs and even offshore we demonstrated how our way of Folkpunk can kick arse. And that will be continued – so look out!
We've got banjo, accordion, acoustic guitar, bass and drums - played by 6 guys with musical backgrounds that couldn’t differ more.
You can hear and see the fun we had writing those songs and lyrics.

Bill Grogan's Goat (Detroit, Michigan, USA)
"Bill Grogan's Goat is a collective of five Detroit musicians who have played on and off together for many years on the Detroit music scene. Over the span of their musical careers the five have covered musical styles ranging from symphonic band music to hardcore punk rock, from solo Irish ballad singing to avant garde Jazz. All these influences come together to bring a fresh approach to classic Irish folk music. Utilizing a rock band format of bass, drums, guitars and traditional instruments such as Irish bouzouki, tin whistle, mandolin and 5 string banjo, Bill Grogan's Goat offers a hard, but highly listenable blend that will get the club up."
