Last week a great musician passed away, Phil Chevron. We were still stunned when we read the following news on facebook yesterday:
"This is Scott's (Drazzle´s) wife, Annie Rasile : To all of my husband's facebook friends that he loved so dearly, it is with a broken heart to tell you that he passed away suddenly this morning around 5am in the emergency room (aortic dissection). This is a shock to all of his family and friends. I can't believe this has happened. Please keep us all, especially our daughter, Veronica Rasile in your prayers."
Drazzle was a beloved father and husband. For the Celtic Punk community, he was the host of a kick-ass radio show/podcast: Paddy O'Punk. Drazzle did a great job and supported new bands from all over the world. These are some comments from bands that he helped:
Craic:
"A very dear friend of ours and such a great guy has passed away this morning, Drazzle from the Paddy O'Punk show on Real Punk radio . Please keep his wife and daughter in your thoughts. Keep punk rock alive in the heavens Drazzle. We will miss you dearly! We owe a lot of our success to him."
Brett M. Burlison (Craic member):
"Keep punk rock alive in the heavens Drazzle! Craic will miss you!!!"
"We are all broken up! So very sad."
Timmy Clausing (craic member) :
"RIP BIG MAN!!! Paddy O'Punk host on Real Punk Radio and Cleveland punk legend David Scott Rasile aka Drazzle passed away.... He was a very close friend to the members of Craic. We own much of our success to him! He was a very kind and gentle guy. I will so very much miss him!! My thoughts and prayers to his wife Annie Rasile and daughter Veronica Rasile."
"Fucking broken hearted about Drazzle. I am really going to miss him. It's a damn shame, he was one of the nicest guy to ever come into my life. He let co-host his show with him from his house, he came to our shows, we drank together. We lost a friend. Really sucks. Please remember him, his daughter Veronica and wife Annie."
The Ramshackle Army:
"Sad news in the international Celt punk world as David Rasile (Drazzle) was unexpectedly taken today, far too early. Known as the the host of Paddy O'Punk Podcast on Real Punk Radio he had always been a massive supporter of the RSA and all of us in this worldwide scene. As both artists and music lover we are fortunate to have gentlemen like Drazzle to show us what the world has to offer.
Our hearts go out to his wife Annie and daughter Veronica."
Brick Top Blaggers:
"Condolences from Brick Top Blaggers. Always sad when we lose a major supporter of the movement."
Jay Stevens (Between The Wars):
"What? Oh hell."
A special tribute tomorrow:
Kristi Webber:
"A very bittersweet show on Wednesday. My friend Drazzle (David Scott Rasile)
is the Featured Listener this week and I feel like it was truly a gift
that he sent his song selections a little early. He passed away
unexpectedly yesterday morning. My show
Wednesday will feature the songs he chose to play for this episode and I
will also be playing some tracks he got me into that I have enjoyed
since I met him as a listener in 2010. I will be playing some regular
One Less Worry music but I also plan to mostly highlight some favorite
songs I heard on Music From The Farside, Paddy O'Punk and Coffee Time With Drazzle. These were Drazzle's 3 online shows and he put so much effort and music appreciation into all of them.
Drazz was a great person to have known in this life and I wanted to do
something more for this show since he was already a part of this
episode! We are all so devastated at his loss as he was taken much too
quickly from this life. A doting father and husband, beloved friend,
awesome DJ and radio mentor and teacher and supporter of his fellow DJs,
a hard-working union man... he really impacted so many folks and made a
lot of friends in this world. He had the kind of disposition and
laidback, natural talent for being a good person that drew so many
people in and really made you want to be a better, more kind individual.
Cheers and I hope to play the songs he enjoyed to make people
smile, share memories and give others an idea of the music he really
loved playing for people! You can visit http://www.midwesternskirt.com/one-less-worry.html for broadcast info."
