VIDEOS - THE DOWNS FAMILY

The Downs Family, a band from San Diego, were one of the first Celtic punk bands from the USA.

The Downs Family is a product of a St. Patrick’s Day sing-a-long nearly twenty years ago at San Diego's Casbah. At the time, they played loose renditions of Irish folk tunes and songs by The Pogues. Since then, their sound has evolved to include the influences of bluegrass, polka music, Sham 69, Big Country, and blues. The Downs Family eventually settled on a line up of two guitars, bass, drums, accordion, banjo, and tin whistle. They began getting gigs with this line up with such bands as Ed’s Redeeming Qualities, The Rebel Consortium featuring Mojo Nixon and Country Dick Montana, and Deadbolt.

The Downs Family's, first recording, a cassette on their own Drunken Sod label, now out of print, featured four original songs: Milo’s Jig, Falling Down Drunk, Arkansas XX, and Doped Up on You. Side B was recorded live at The Casbah in 1992. In 1993, they recorded their first single with Vinyl Communications, and played with John Doe and Rocket from the Crypt.

In 1994, they went on tour with Rocket from the Crypt to Mesa, Arizona, Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as Austin and Houston, Texas. They recorded a full length CD/Cassette on Vinyl Communications featuring nine original songs and three Irish traditionals called Beer is Like a Dog... It Knows When You’re Scared. In that year, they gigged with Red Aunts, Cindy Lee Berryhill, Candy Cane, Little Jack Melody and his Young Turks, Yo La Tengo, Southern Culture on the Skids, Tanner, Buck O’ Nine, No Doubt, Inch, and Crash Worship. That year suicide claimed the life of their accordion player and their banjo player left the band to live in another city.

In 1995, a new banjo player, Erik Brashers, joined the group. He played and recorded with them for six months before he moved to Arkansas with his wife and two children. The recordings with Erik have never been released. Prior to Erik’s departure, he passed the reins to another banjo player, Ernest Cline.

During the first two months of 1996, they completed their second full length CD, Top O’ the world. This self-released CD features five original songs and eight traditional songs of both Irish and American origin. Top O’ the world was released in 1996 on St. Patrick’s Day at a CD release party at the Casbah. The CD release party was the homecoming show of a west coast tour that included shows in shows in Eugene, Seattle, Tacoma, and Vancouver.

Original line-up:

Brendan Berg - Guitar Vocals
Brian Van de Wetering - Tin Whistle, Mandolin
Dave Gardner - Bass

REVIEW - McGILLICUDDYS - SIN LANE (2010)

McGillicuddys - Sin Lane (Independent MCGCD002)

Release date: 2010
Running Time: 46:05, 12 tracks

"You can be active with the activists or sleep in with the sleepers while you're waiting for the Great Leap Forwards"

(Billy Bragg "Waiting for the Great Leap Forwards")

Were they sleeping? I guess that many people were wondering "Whatever happened to McGillicuddys?" This Canadian band released a great album in 2003 and we have been waiting for their follow-up for a long time. In fact, seven years have gone by till the release of "Sin Lane". It was high time.

I must admit that I love these guys. A band clearly influenced by The Pogues which is not a wannabee band (just listen to tracks 3 "Thinking of You" and track 6 "The Siren's Drone"). Besides, this time they cover The Nips "Gabrielle".

Maybe McGillicuddys are not among the Celtic Punk Music Gods, but that accordion and that tin whistle haunt me. I can hear echoes from bands such as Jimmy George, the earlier Pubcrawlers or even The Skels or Mutiny. However, the sound is clearly "McGillicuddys"

My favourite tracks? "Ferry to the Smoke" (we were missing songs like this),"Calgary II:35" (God bless The Whisky Priests and Jimmy George), the traditional song "The Banks of the Roses" (is that "Johnny Johnny" a tribute to The Clash?. Maybe not, but I would like to think so), "Glory-O" (Real Mckenzies without pipes.F*cking good tin whistle!!!!), "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" (The lads covering Richard Thompson, another track in which the tin whistle sounds really "in your face", not hidden in the mix) and "Last Round in Lacombe" (a Circle J meets The Pogues song)

I hope that the gap between "Sin Lane" and their third album will be less than two years. Canadian bands such as McGillicuddys show us how good this genre is. We want more and we want it now. Another Great Leap Forwards.

1) Ferry to the Smoke (2:17)
2) Calgary II:35 (3:58)
3) Thinking of You (4:12)
4) The Banks of the Roses (3:38)
5) Gabrielle (3:09)
6) The Siren's Drone (4:04)
7) Bones (4:24)
8) A Hard Way (5:22)
9) Glory-O (3:08)
10) 1952 Vincent Black Lightning (4:53)
I1) Valencia (Three Miles to Cape Beale) (3:27)
12) Last Round in Lacombe (3:11)

FREE DOWNLOADS - 3 DAFT MONKEYS

3 Daft Monkeys
is a Cornish band that comes from the ashes of the sadly defunct band Lordryk.

"3 Daft Monkeys
are a world music-influenced acoustic band from Cornwall, UK, consisting of Tim Ashton, Athene Roberts, and
Jamie Waters (who replaced original member, Rich Mulryne). The instrumentation consists of vocals, fiddle, twelve-string guitar, bass guitar and foot drum. The band's musical influences include Celtic, Balkan, Romani, Latino, electronic dance, reggae, dub, punk rock, and traditional folk music.

The albums Hubbadillia and Social Vertigo were recorded in Devon at Martin Barre's Presshouse studios and Green Room Studios respectively, and were produced by Mark Tucker, who also works with bands such as Flook and PJ Harvey.

The band have had great success at venues and festivals all over the UK and Europe, including being invited by Show of Hands to play the main stage at the Eden Project and the 2008 BBC Proms at St David's Hall in Cardiff. Other highlights include GuilFest; Folkwoods, Holland; the Glastonbury Festival, the Trowbridge Village Pump Festival; Folk Segovia, Spain; Lorient Interceltic Festival, France; Kevelaer World Music Festival, Germany; Labadoux Festival, Belgium and enthusiastically welcomed returns to the Beautiful Days and Larmer Tree festivals. They are also a regular support act for The Levellers, with Roberts usually returning to join the Levellers onstage for the finale in a duelling fiddle-off of "What You Know" with added tambourine from Waters and tin-whistle from Ashton.

The band have enjoyed airplay on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Radio Wales during 2006 and 2007, and were described by presenter Mike Harding as "a brilliant band... absolutely amazing"." (from wikipedia)

"Their new album 'The Antiquated & The Arcane' will be out on 01 November 2010.

3 Daft Monkeys release their brand new studio album, The Antiquated & The Arcane on 1st November 2010 through their own 3DM Records label. The hugely anticipated release is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2008 album Social Vertigo. The Antiquated & The Arcane draws heavily from 3 Daft Monkeys experiences on the road and takes the listener on a rollercoaster journey via the frenetic, the serene and the surreal. The album demonstrates a leap forward for the quirky folk trio in both production and sonics and features some of their most mature song-writing to date with catchy hooks and melodic choruses. Beautifully produced by the band and mixed by Richard Evans (Real World) the album was recorded in an authentic ‘live’ studio setting. There is an intensity mixed with a light, almost ironic edge which provides the album with moments of bitter-sweetness." (from their MySpace site)

BOOTLEG - MODENA CITY RAMBLERS

Another essential band, Modena City Ramblers, from Italy. A band influenced by The Pogues, The Clash and Mano Negra.

"Modena City Ramblers (also known as M.C.R.) is an Italian folk band founded in 1991. Their music is heavily influenced by Celtic themes, and can be compared to folk rock music. The band has sold over 500,000 albums. Known for their left-wing politics, their lyrics often speak out against the Mafia and fascism.

Biography

"Abbiamo cominciato per hobby, per divertimento puro e semplice. Avevamo un'impronta punk, andavamo a suonare senza neanche provare, a volte eravamo in 6, a volte in 7, anche in 11.Franco D'Aniello"

The Modena City Ramblers were formed in 1991 by a group of friends that wanted to play traditional Irish music. The first to join were Alberto Morselli, Giovanni Rubbiani and Alberto Cottica (still in Lontano da dove), Chris Dennis (formerly a member of Nomadi), Filippo Chieli, Franco D'Aniello and Luciano Gaetani from 'Abazia dei folli. On Saint Patrick's Day in 1991, during a concert in a pub in Modena, they chose the name Modena City Ramblers. The name was a tribute to Dublin City Ramblers, an Irish band.

In 1992 they were joined by bassist Massimo Ghiacci (formerly in the band Plutonium 99). During the evening of 1 March they recorded their first demo. During a concert at a pub in Carpi, Stefano "Cisco" Bellotti sang The Wild Rover for the first time. At this time the Modena City Ramblers became an open company, and have remained so during throughout their history, with almost all members who have left the band returning sporadically to play with the group. Their most famous concert was performed as the opening act for the Pogues in Modena. Their repertoire has since expanded considerably, including traditional Italian songs as Bella ciao, Fischia il vento, and Contessa.

The singer of the group Cisco along with producer Kaba Cavazzuti who also became "a new member of the Modena City Ramblers after changes in the original line-up", released the album of the ‘brother band’ Casa del Vento, titled "900" which came out in February 2001.

Members

The band's lineup has changed many times since their formation. After the first album, singer Alberto Morselli left the band; in 1996 Francesco Moneti replaced Marco Michelini, and Giovanni Rubbiani and Alberto Cottica left the band in 2001.

Singer Stefano "Cisco" Bellotti left the band in 2005 after fourteen years. The lineup in 2006 was:

Davide "Dudu" Morandi: singer, bass, acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, glockenspiel, harmonica
Elisabetta "Betty" Vezzani: singer, acoustic and electric guitar, tambourine, mandolin
Massimo "Ice" Ghiacci: acoustic and electric bass, double bass, tea chest bass, sax, choirs, acoustic guitar
Franco D'Aniello: flute, tin whistle, trumpet, sax, choirs, acoustic guitar, glockenspiel, percussion
Francesco "Fry" Moneti: acoustic and electric guitar, acoustic, electric and Indian violin, banjo, oud, mandolin, choirs, vox

Arcangelo "Kaba" Cavazzuti: drums, percussions, acoustic guitar, bass, charango, piano, trumpet, shaker, banjo, choirs, vox
Luca "Gabibbo" Giacometti (died in 2007): bouzouki, mandolin, banjo, acoustic guitar, choirs, vox"

REVIEW - ANGUS MOHR - SYMPHONY FROM THE GHOST SHIP (2008) Mohr Fire Productions IV

Angus Mohr - Symphony from the Ghost Ship - Mohr Fire Productions IV
Produced by Angus Mohr, Scott "Gusty" Christensen & JOK (Johnny OverKill)
Release date: 2008
Running Time: 58:40, 13 tracks

Angus Mohr is a 4 piece band from Colorado that plays "Highland Rock'n'Roll". The band has released one live album (debut), two studio albums and a Christmas album together with their friends.

"Symphony from the Ghost Ship" is their last album, a well balanced selection of "original, traditional and relevant music".

Original. The first track of the album is called "Luna". A good bagpipes intro with the sound of waves (Have you seen the Ghost Ship on the cover?).

The next self-penned song is track no. 8, "Debt to the Devil". It is a slow song at the beginning, but the pipes at the end is great.

Track no. 10 is "Waltzing Alone", featuring Deb Schmidt-Lobis (accordion), Tracy LaGuardia (violin) and Gregg Hansen (acoustic guitar). Even if it is not a rockin' song, its has a slight Rawlins Cross feeling.

"The Captains' Song" (track no. 11) is a song written by Matthew McDaniel (piper) and Paul McDaniel (vocals and bass). It's a tribute to a couple of friends who were nick-named “The Captain”. Wonderful pirate song, a celebration of life. One of my favourites.

Traditional. The second track is "Paddy's Leather Breeches". Although it is not so powerful as MacKeel or the early Wolfstone, this is authentic bagpipes rock.

"Hangman's Song" is a more commercial hard rock, in the Rawlins Cross vein: Whistles, keyboards and guitars.

"The Fields of Athenry" is not really a traditional song, but I feel that I can put it in this group. This song is being covered by every single band, but it keeps on being an excellent song. Angus Mohr rendition is great, obviously more Dropkick Murphys than Neck.

Track no. 6, "Isabel and the Elf Knight" is based on the arrangement by Steeleye Span. It has a Scottish feel and features Matthew McDaniel on sax. It's a calm number.

"Killicrankie", written by Robert Burns, once again a wonderful piping by Matthew.

Relevant music. These guys have a rock background that can be found in every cover they have recorded: Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, AC/DC .... These are the songs they chose for this album:

"The Devil in Miss Jones" features both excellent fiddle and keyboards. I have not heard Mike Ness song, then I don't know if it is respectful with the original. This version has a Johnny Cash feel and a part of the song sounds like "Ghostriders in the Sky". Top-notch fiddling by Tracy LaGuardia.

"A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall". Difficult, too difficult. I am not a Bob Dylan hardcore fan, but I must admit that I love the original song. So I was a little bit afraid. But these guys have done it, a very good cover.

And finally, the origin of bagpipes rock. Some people say that bagpipes rock was invented by the Aussies. The band Brother lives in the USA, but they come from Australia. Seven Nations have covered The Church "Under a Milky Way". And before that, AC/DC. The boys from Angus Mohr know it and make us a special gift, their own cover of "It's a Long Way to the Top"

Angus Mohr have their own studio where they record their albums. The production is very good, maybe a little bit polished for me (remember that I am mainly a Celtic punk fan). The quality of the booklet is also high, 12 pages and the lyrics of every song (including those of the covers and traditional songs) The boys are excellent musicians and I would like that they would play in a venue near my home, because it's sure that I wouldn't miss them. They write fine music and cover great songs in which they put their own "fingerprints".

If you like bands such as Brother, Off Kilter, Prydein or Seven Nations, then you will enjoy Angus Mohr. In fact, Angus Mohr are more interesting than some of the aforementioned. Long live Angus Mohr.

BOOTLEG - LANCASTER COUNTY PRISON

Lancaster County Prison live on WPRB. 320 kbps.

"I got a letter from an old street aquaintance one day. The letter started like this: " I don't know what you heard, but it ain't like people are saying. I got caught in the middle of something that wasn't cool, and then I got stuck with a sh---ty lawyer..." I looked at the return address and it said, "Lancaster County Prison". I threw the letter away, but I thought it was a good name for a band. We started with covers of Johnny Paycheck, Johnny Horton, and Johnny Thunders. We wrote a bunch of murder ballads and headed out to play Philly, PA and the Lower East Side of ol' NYC. We released a few CDs, and was doing well until we smacked into ol' pal Gerald doing gigs in Irish pubs in Queens, NY. Well, it seemed like a good idea to add his Johnny Cash to our list of Johnnys and add a natural mix of Luke Kelly and Paddy Reilly to the Guinness stocked stew. We headed across the United States to play from the holy battle grounds of Virginia to New Orleans, Texas, Missouri, and Chicago, and finally over to Ireland. A 1982 Econoline Ford took us there and back to Queens, NY where we hooked up with Shane MacGowan to tour, drink, record, and drink. Well, now we stand with 5 cd's to our credit, the most recent, recorded with Shane "Know what I mean?" MacGowan. We play, drink, write songs and dig up old Irish and Country chestnuts that keep the happy patrons throwing beer bottles at the chicken wire that covers the stage." (from the band´s MySpace)

"In New York City a few years ago, John R. Carruthers, who had just left his noisy Lower East Side rock n' roll band, the Gashounds, ran into Roy Edroso, who had just left his noisy Lower East Side rock n' roll band.

After a brief acoustic period, they were joined by bassist Mark DeAngelis who gave Lancaster County Prison a back-to-basics rock and roll sound fueled by the Ramones. Not feeling the rock sound, Roy left the band. John and Jet are currently abetted by "Smilin'" Joey Vazquez on guitar and pedal steel, Howie Mason on drums, and Gerald Donnelly on guitar, and Brett Boye (of the Rusty Nails) on bagpipes.

Two full length compact discs released on their own, and touring up and down the East Coast have brought L.C.P. to the Coolidge family. They released Live at The Village Idiot. Playing there on the first Thursday of every month for over a year, LCP thought it was time to give the rest of the world a little glimpse of what their live shows are all about. On this disc, six new songs and classic covers by Roger Miller, Waylon Jennigns, and Merle Haggard, prove that Lancaster County Prison will go down in country-punk music as one of the best, hardest working bands this side of the Mississippi.

After playing shows around the N.Y.C. area, and doing a small tour across the country, L.C.P. thought it was time to go back into the studio and record a new CD. Recording at Coyote Studios in Brooklyn,N.Y., Lancaster County Prison are back with their new CD, Death Waltz 2000. Thirteen new tracks of songs of love, war, and drinking.

If cowboys would stage-dive then Lancaster County Prison is what they'd be listening to.

Its now here! Every Goddamn Time. 11 new tracks by Lancaster County Prison. Featuring Shane Macgowan on 4 tracks, even co-writing a new track with Jet from L.C.P. called "Satan Is Waiting."

This is a new great CD and here at Coolidge we are honored to be part of this.

What can I say about this band that hasn't - they bering the wonderful feel of Ireland into America with their roudy rock and roll with a hint of tradition" (from http://www.ballcar.com/lcppic.html)

FAQ

1) Could you please upload this album "xxxx - xxx"?

I'm sorry, this is a blog-zine to promote new bands or bands that are not well-known. I only post the recordings that the bands have decided to share for free. I cannot rip albums and post them.

2) Could you please put the links to blogs/websites that are sharing those albums?

The same answer. But if you make a search with google, I'm sure that you will easily find those sites.

3) I feel that the quality of the bands is not as good as it used to be. In the past there were more Celtic punk bands and now there are more Celtic rock bands. Why?

Well, first of all, remember that one man's meat is another man's poison. I feel that I have to give an opportunity to all the bands. You, as listener, has your own musical taste and you will decide if a band is worth hearing or not. But, for me, as "editor" of Celtic Folk Punk and More, every band deserves to be heard.

Secondly, in the past it was easier to get free tracks. The site in which more bands are available is MySpace. Two years ago, most of the tracks could be downloaded free. However, they changed this and now the tracks are only available on streaming. Then, I have to contact a lot of bands and ask them if they want to be featured on the samplers and send some tracks to me. I have got many positive answers, 4 negative answers and many bands have never answered, even if I contacted them twice and I had asked them please to say yes or no.

I don't know which will be the future of the samplers next year. The only think that I know is that I will keep on posting free downloads (full albums, EPs, demos or only a few tracks). Apart from that, every month a band will be featured (Reverbnation widget)

4) Can I post your samplers on my blog?

Yes, of course, it is free promotion for the bands. It would be nice if you use my Mediafire link. This way I could see how many people have downloaded every sampler.

5) No reviews in September. What happened to the reviews?

Both Chris and me are doing this for free, but we have our own works and our own families. We are quite busy now, and we have had no time to write any review. However, I'm sure that some reviews will be posted soon.

6) And the interviews?

I must give priority to the music (samplers, free downloads and videos), but I will try to post more interviews in the coming months.

7) If I write a review or I make an interview to a band, would you post it on Celtic Folk Punk and More?

If the review/interview is about a Celtic Punk or Celtic Rock band, they are welcome. You should sign your review (real name or nick) and I reserve the right of posting them.

8) Can I make you a suggestion about a band or a topic?

Sure. I really appreciate it.

9) Do you endorse CDbaby, Interpunk, Amazon, ...?

I only endorse my own business. As a client, I have bought from Interpunk, CDbaby, Amazon.de or OSNS among others and I have never had any problem with those retailers. That's all I can say.

FEATURED BAND - HAGGIS AND BONG

This month's featured band is Haggis and Bong, from Pretoria (South Africa). 4 songs can be dowloaded from the band's Reverbnation's site.

"H&B started early in 2007 in an extremely random fashion. Angus and Tom met through a mutual friend and had a once of jam that once off jam turned into a few practices and the rest, as they say is history.

After just over a year of writing material and finding their feet the band was ready to release their debut album Fire in the Bowl. With Dominic now on board (joining in early 2008) adding a fuller pipe sound he band was starting to pick up some momentum.

Once the album was released (by the band themselves), the goal was to get the CD in as many hands as possible this was easier than expected as CDs were in high demand as soon as they were available.

This growth in the fanbase led to the band landing some amazing shows, such as, Splashy Fen, Seasons Wither, OppiKoppi and at The Doors. People could see that this was a band that was serious about what they were doing and could rev any crowd up without fail!!

After pushing the debut album for just over a year, the band's focus now turns to next release. The vision for this album is clear to be better, more technical and more enjoyable than the last no small task.

Having introduced bassist Xavier to the line-up in late 2009 as well as guest players (for the big shows) Willy and Liam in early 2010, the band now boasts one of the biggest sounds around. The pipes blasting out Triad harmonies, catchy melodies and hypnotic rhythmic lines the drums shaking your soul awake, getting you moving the bass smoothing everything over with a thick layer of funkiness and groove and the trombone bringing styles from punk/ska to jazz. The whole mixture creates one massive "party hard and don't stop" machine!!

One thing is for certain, the future holds big things for this band make sure you keep your ears to the ground and watch this space because the next album and the next few months will blow you away!!!!!" (from Reverbnation)

Angus "Gussy Groovespeare" Nixon - Great Highland Bagpipes, Celtic Tin Whistle, Scottish Smallpipes and The Fool!!!
Thomas "Ug Madness" Hughes - kit drum
Dominic "The Dominator" Skelton - Great Highland Bagpipes
Xavier "Xavi" Knox - bass
William "Big WIlly" Bishop - Trombone
"Laser Liam" O'Flaherty guesting on the Great Highland Bagpipes

VIDEOS - CEILI RAIN

Celtic Christian bands, Chapter IV: "According to their website: "Ceili" (say: KAY-lee) is a Gaelic (Irish) word that means "party," specifically one with live musicians, dancing and general merriment. "Coeli" is a form of the Latin word for "heaven." Rain is that stuff that falls from the sky. Thus, Ceili Rain is a "downpour of heavenly partiness."

Ceili Rain is an innovative blend of pop-rock music with a dash of Celtic/Irish flavor and a subtle, but sincere, spiritual message. The band is led by frontman, Bob Halligan Jr. As a songwriter, Bob Halligan, Jr., has had over 140 songs recorded by well-known rock artists, including Cher, Michael Bolton, Judas Priest, KISS, Kathy Mattea, Bob Carlisle, Rebecca St. James, Jump 5, Maire Brennan and countless others. He has published over 870 songs and his songs have sold more than 30 million units.

In 1995, Bob Halligan Jr (while living in Nashville) sat down with his dear friend Dan Keen from ASCAP. Dan looked him in the eye and said: Bob, buddy, I think you have to decide if you want this be a Christian band or a mainstream band. Bob's reply set up & defined the joys & struggles of the last 10 years: Dan, I have decided. I want it to be Ceili Rain! Stupid or stubborn, you decide! Now 10 years and 56 band members later, he still loves the mission of this group: which is to bring faith-based music to people of all faiths (and no faith); to encourage people to talk to (and more important LISTEN to) God whether or not they feel the slightest inclination to do so; to mix rocknroll and Celtic flavors in a way that is exciting, danceable, joyous and musically solid.

The discography of Ceili Rain continues to grow due to the overwhelming support of a seriously committed underground fan base. Fans of this band have given up everything to drive across the country to follow their favorite fella's and label artists representing a variety of musical styles have even gone on to cover Ceili Rain tunes. For example, Christian recording artist Rebecca St James covered the song Me Then You Then You Then Me on her incredibly successful CD titled God.
Kathy Mattea not only covered the song Love Travels but she went on to name an entire tour after the song.

In 2004 Ceili Rain released Change in Your Pocket found on the OCP/Spirit and Song Record Label and distributed to the mainstream by Compendia Music/Koch Entertainment. This CD went on to win 5 Unity Awards and spawned 3 videos. One of the highlights of this release was their trip to Ireland where 2 of the videos were filmed. These videos are now showing on video channels across the world.

Ceili Rain has played some of the top venues in the country including Reliant Stadium, The RCA Dome and The Georgia Dome. They have played many key festivals from Kingdom Bound to CreationFest to World Youth Day. They have been invited to perform at numerous celtic and community events from the Slainte Festival to the Bethlehem Musikfest. They have played at major conferences including NCYC and Youth Specialties and have even performed for major corporations like Nextel. International travels have taken them to several countries including Canada, Belgium, Italy and others.

In Fall 2006, Ceili Rain released their 5th studio album titled, Whatever Makes you Dance. There's no doubt whether you are a new Ceili Rain fan or a die hard Ceili Rain fan that there is truly something for everyone on this CD. The first radio single to come from this CD was a powerful ballad called Kneeling. The song hit big on KLOVE Christian radio and peaked at 12 on the national CRW Radio Chart. Fans from all faiths, and from all political parties agreed Kneeling is a song with a powerful message. The song was also a finalist in the International Songwriters Competition.

...and so it goes...along comes 2009 and the release of the sixth CD project titled I Made Lemonade! With great

anticipation and excitement this project (released as an independent CD on Mima Rekidz) was 100% funded and sponsored by loyal friends and fans. A new concept for sure-but a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with those who have supported Ceili Rain and all the merriment that comes with it. I Made Lemonade was inspired by the debates, the troubles, and the love that surrounds BHjr and Ceili Rain. He wanted the songs to be simple without being “dopey”. He wanted a bigger sounding record that listeners could turn up loud. Although Ceili Rain records have always been prayerful, “Lemonade” is sometimes a bit more overt with the spirituality. But, BHjr’s penchant for remaining subtle and below the radar is never fully ignored! I Made Lemonade will encourage you to Trust On-Love On-Joy On! Sometimes it really is, the best way to be.

So...Kick off your shoes, stand on a table, grab yourself a pint, dance a jig and join Ceili Rain as they carry on in their pursuit of heavenly partiness!!" (from the band's mySpace)
