The members of Skontra joined in Summer 2002 in Gijon (Xixon in Asturian language). The current line-up is together since 2005. At the very beginning they played covers (La Polla, Kortatu, Eskorbuto ...) but little by little they started to write their own songs. Punk, hardcore, ska or reggae are mixed with Asturian folk sounds.
In October 2003 they recorded a demo and at the beginning of 2004 they recorded two tracks for an Asturian sampler called "Rock'n'Llingua".
At the end of 2005 they recorded their debut album, "Semeya de la rabia", that was released in 2006. It was at the end of that year that they recorded a covers EP available only through Internet. The following bands were covered: Barricada (Pamplona), Parabellum (Barakaldo) and M.C.D. (Bilbao).
In 2007 they recorded another cover for the Tribute to the Asturian band Dixebra: "Salú Dixebra-Perversiones"
Their second album was released in 2008, "Cantares pa dempués d'una guerra".
Skontra has played with bands such as Flogging Molly (USA), Circle J (The Netherlands) or Quality Export (The Netherlands).
