Melbourne Celt punks The Ramshackle Army are proud to announce that they have secured a deal with Swedish label Heptown Records for the full European distribution of their debut full length album “Letters From The Road Less Travelled”, to be released early 2014.
Heptown Records was established in 2002 in Lund, Sweden, and over the past 11 years have grown into one of Scandinavia’s leading underground labels. With a catalogue spanning Punk, Ska, Rockabilly, Psychobilly, Swing, Surf and Garage the label has become most known to the Celt punk scene for its release of Swedish Celt punk powerhouse Sir Reg’s albums “Sign of the Times” and “21st Century Loser”.
Recently, Heptown Records added to its stable with distribution of American Fiddle Rockers Lexington Field, and now with the addition of Aussies The RSA, the label is spreading its name worldwide. “We are excited to join mates, and bands we’re fans of, Sir Reg and Lexington Field as part of the Heptown team” said lead singer Gaz Byrne. “We hope this will help grow our fanbase so we can one day soon head over and share the stage with some of the AMAZING Celt punk acts
coming out of Europe”.
The band themselves have been tied to the studio over the last 2 months, namely Head Gap Studios in Preston (VIC), with Loki Lockwood (who’s production credits include Brothers Grim & the Blue Murders and Graveyard Train). Since the recording of their debut EP “Life Lessons and Drunken Sessions” in 2011, the band has assembled an extensive list of tracks, a cross section of which have made it to the album. For The Ramshackle Army, a band who began some 3 years ago, this is the first such significant move into the European market. The band is excited to begin their push beyond Australian waters and into this corner of the world where the Celt punk community has been providing support since the band’s inception.
The album will be distributed though out Europe both in retail stores, though the label’s distribution channels (Cargo, Sound Pollution, Sonic Rendezvous & VME), and online from the Hepcat Sweden Website (http://www.hepcat.se). The Ramshackle Army have finished tracking, and are putting the final touches on Letters From The Road Less Travelled. In the meantime the new single “Anchors Aweigh” and bside “Boys From The County Hell” (Pogues Cover) are available online from iTunes and The Ramshackle Army BandCamp (http://theramshacklearmy.bandcamp.com/).
