REVIEW - STÖJ SNAK "Fuck"

Stöj Snak "Fuck EP" 5FeetUnder Records
Release date: 27 August 2013
Running time: 7:37, 3 tracks

In 1991 Billy Bragg released an album titled “Don’t Try This at Home”. The first single from the album was “Sexuality". Do you remember the chorus? “Sexuality - Strong and warm and wild and free/ Sexuality - Your laws do not apply to me/Sexuality - Come eat and drink and sleep with me/Sexuality - We can be what we want to be

The Danish songwriter known as Stöj Snak almost threw out his song “Fuck” a catchy song featuring banjo and egg shakers, since he felt that the lyrics were “outdated and redundant. Nevertheless, recent events like Russian official position against homosexuality pushed him to change his mind.

The other numbers on the EP are “Crooked and Criminals”, an interesting song with a different instrumentation (keyboards, melodica and percussion) and “How”, a back to basics song (guitar, drums and harmonica) with a great chorus: “What do they got? They’ve got no right/They are here for us and not the other way around/And we all own the future
