BOOTLEG - LANCASTER COUNTY PRISON

Lancaster County Prison live on WPRB. 320 kbps.

"I got a letter from an old street aquaintance one day. The letter started like this: " I don't know what you heard, but it ain't like people are saying. I got caught in the middle of something that wasn't cool, and then I got stuck with a sh---ty lawyer..." I looked at the return address and it said, "Lancaster County Prison". I threw the letter away, but I thought it was a good name for a band. We started with covers of Johnny Paycheck, Johnny Horton, and Johnny Thunders. We wrote a bunch of murder ballads and headed out to play Philly, PA and the Lower East Side of ol' NYC. We released a few CDs, and was doing well until we smacked into ol' pal Gerald doing gigs in Irish pubs in Queens, NY. Well, it seemed like a good idea to add his Johnny Cash to our list of Johnnys and add a natural mix of Luke Kelly and Paddy Reilly to the Guinness stocked stew. We headed across the United States to play from the holy battle grounds of Virginia to New Orleans, Texas, Missouri, and Chicago, and finally over to Ireland. A 1982 Econoline Ford took us there and back to Queens, NY where we hooked up with Shane MacGowan to tour, drink, record, and drink. Well, now we stand with 5 cd's to our credit, the most recent, recorded with Shane "Know what I mean?" MacGowan. We play, drink, write songs and dig up old Irish and Country chestnuts that keep the happy patrons throwing beer bottles at the chicken wire that covers the stage." (from the band´s MySpace)

"In New York City a few years ago, John R. Carruthers, who had just left his noisy Lower East Side rock n' roll band, the Gashounds, ran into Roy Edroso, who had just left his noisy Lower East Side rock n' roll band.

After a brief acoustic period, they were joined by bassist Mark DeAngelis who gave Lancaster County Prison a back-to-basics rock and roll sound fueled by the Ramones. Not feeling the rock sound, Roy left the band. John and Jet are currently abetted by "Smilin'" Joey Vazquez on guitar and pedal steel, Howie Mason on drums, and Gerald Donnelly on guitar, and Brett Boye (of the Rusty Nails) on bagpipes.

Two full length compact discs released on their own, and touring up and down the East Coast have brought L.C.P. to the Coolidge family. They released Live at The Village Idiot. Playing there on the first Thursday of every month for over a year, LCP thought it was time to give the rest of the world a little glimpse of what their live shows are all about. On this disc, six new songs and classic covers by Roger Miller, Waylon Jennigns, and Merle Haggard, prove that Lancaster County Prison will go down in country-punk music as one of the best, hardest working bands this side of the Mississippi.

After playing shows around the N.Y.C. area, and doing a small tour across the country, L.C.P. thought it was time to go back into the studio and record a new CD. Recording at Coyote Studios in Brooklyn,N.Y., Lancaster County Prison are back with their new CD, Death Waltz 2000. Thirteen new tracks of songs of love, war, and drinking.

If cowboys would stage-dive then Lancaster County Prison is what they'd be listening to.

Its now here! Every Goddamn Time. 11 new tracks by Lancaster County Prison. Featuring Shane Macgowan on 4 tracks, even co-writing a new track with Jet from L.C.P. called "Satan Is Waiting."

This is a new great CD and here at Coolidge we are honored to be part of this.

What can I say about this band that hasn't - they bering the wonderful feel of Ireland into America with their roudy rock and roll with a hint of tradition" (from http://www.ballcar.com/lcppic.html)
